The Trump administration wants technology companies to commit to a new compact concerning AI data centers, Politico has reported, citing two administration officials. The draft compact sets out commitments to make sure data centers do not raise household electricity prices, strain water supplies or undermine the energy grid, according to a draft of the compact obtained by Politico. The proposed pact could bind OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Facebook parent Meta and other AI giants to a broad set of energy, water and community principles.
